Growing sustainable agriculture has been the heart of Herefordshire-based PR and marketing consultancy, Wilesmith’s ambition, since launching in summer 2017. And the company is looking for a driven individual to manage a growing portfolio of agricultural clients under the business owner’s leadership.
Wilesmith has a new opening for a creative person with experience in managing PR and marketing campaigns, who has an interest in sustainable agriculture, renewable energy and horticulture. Knowledge of agriculture is essential.
The position will involve the design and implementation of strategy for clients, striking a balance between strategic thinking and tactical delivery. Communications content that the account manager will need to be comfortable with includes creating engaging copy, be that a press release to catch the eye of editors in the farming press, or feature writing, and marketing content such as social media posts, catchy strap lines, e-newsletters, company literature and website copywriting.
The role includes:
Maintaining a good relationship with existing and new clients
Providing ideas to clients and creating reports
Ensuring effective communication with a wide range of stakeholders
Strategic PR and marketing campaign planning and management
Implementing PR campaigns and reporting on progress
Researching and writing editorial for rural publications and websites
Writing blogs, newsletters and columns
Updating websites with news stories and building newsletters
Directing agri freelancers to write technical articles
Co-ordinating design projects / campaigns
Social media strategy and tactical delivery
Working with clients to prepare content for journalists
Creating content for clients’ social media and digital channels
Identifying and acting on publicity opportunities
Capturing photography
Writing blogs, newsletters and columns
Wilesmith is looking for a candidate with the following:
Bachelor’s degree in related studies, such as English, journalism, communications, or public relations
A good understanding of how account leadership, client service, and public relations works
Possess creative writing, communication and editing skills
A passion for digital and traditional communications
The ability to create a balance between plan execution and strategic thinking
Top level interpersonal and presentation skills and have the ability to motivate clients
The ability to think independently
Excellent time management
High level organisation and accountability skills
A collaborative spirit with the interest of the client as the central focus
A positive, ambitious attitude
An excellent grasp of the English language
A good awareness of the key issues affecting agriculture and the rural community
Experience of paid media (social media and Google ads) is desired

Wilesmith’s broad portfolio spans several clients including world-leading energy crop specialists, a prominent sustainable farming event and an outstanding agricultural business consultancy.

Some travel should be expected.
